Stories from Deep in the Heart

We are students, teachers, and producers working together - deep in the heart of Texas - to create radio documentaries about the people and places that shape our lives. This is a project of Texas Folklife, a state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the diverse cultures and living heritage of the Lone Star State. Generous funding provided by the City of Austin's Cultural Arts Division & Telecommunications & Regulatory Affairs GTOPS, Texas Commission on the Arts, Humanities Texas, the Still Water Foundation, and major funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes a great nation deserves great art.

Who We Follow

We wanted to offer a special plug to SOUNDIRON, a sound design hub that’s donated their incredibly compelling experimental sounds from the Cathedral of Junk in Austin, Texas. We will be using their creations for a youth-produced radio documentary on the same subject. Listen to, and learn more about this amazing collection here: Cathedral of Junk

And stay tuned for the final version of the radio documentary….we post final stories here on the blog, and on the national radio platform, Public Radio Exchange.
